Bison frequent the flats east of the Tetons during the spring, summer and fall. I was out watching them, and this young bull, all alone, trotted across a large flat, and then up onto this low ridge near Blacktail Butte. He stopped and literally posed, with the Tetons in the background, and the fall breeze rippling his shaggy coat. I couldn't resist recreating this image. A smaller version of this painting is in the collection of Grand Teton Park, and hangs in the Craig Thomas Visitor's Center.
