Elk can often be found on the flat bench on the south end of Blacktail Butte in Grand Teton Park. The Tetons make a magnificent backdrop for these magnificent creatures. During the fall rut, the bulls spend their time trying to gather, and keep together, bunches of cows, and it's a tough job. This painting won two awards: Top 100 in the national "Paint the Parks" contest, and "Featured Artist 2011" from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF). The RMEF printed a limited edition of lithographic prints to raise money for the great elk and habitat conservation work they do. A very limited edition of 50 Artist's Proofs is for sale through this website.
