This commissioned portrait of a superior hunting dog, Gypsy, was done for a couple who noticed one day that Gypsy was getting pretty gray in the face, and they wanted to preserve her in a painting before that dark day which will inevitably come for all of us. Portraits of pets must be done with the same care demanded of any family member, and after several changes, this portrait met the mark. Gypsy really is an outstanding dog.
