This is a Yellowstone cutthroat trout just after grabbing a dry fly. He's just felt the resistance of the line as he tries to dive. I worked out every gory detail of this painting in my imagination and many, many drawings - how the trout would look as it thrashed against the resistance of the line, and the rippling light hitting the trout and rocks. Artists are often their own hardest critics, but I really like this one.
