This portrait is of our little son, Drew when he was about five. It was a brisk fall evening, and we were getting ready for Halloween. I painted it quickly, and tried to keep the brushwork free and vigorous. I decided to leave it unfinished. This study was later used to make the more complete portrait "Young Drewie".
