SLIDE LAKE SURVIVOR
14"X11"
OIL ON CANVAS
SOLD

In 1925 there was a massive landslide northeast of Jackson, WY and it blocked a river and formed a lake (predictably called "Slide Lake"). As one drives past the lake, this tree clings to, and seems to be growing directly out of the rocky cliffs. Jo and I painted this en plein aire, and as we did, some bighorn sheep came down the slope and lay in the shade of the tree we were painting! I had the good sense not to try to paint them in my picture.
