Hollis Williford was a great friend, and he died January 1 of 2007. Not only was he a great artist and outdoorsman, but he was also the kindest, most generous, most interesting, toughest, most talented, and most unassuming friend anyone could want. The last time he and I went out painting, we went to Rocky Mountain National Park, and we ran into this beautiful little stream. Hollis simply couldn't pass up something like this. I personally just love to study rocks and water, and so we gave it a shot out there. Just recently, I decided to paint this larger, and it was about ten days of intensely recalling one of my best friends. He left a big hole in the world, and I do miss him so.
